Conference Goals:

  • To help teachers and students enhance and develop tools together for challenging homophobia, heterosexism, transphobia, and gender bias.
  • To help students and teachers build safe and effective Gay Straight Alliances and Queer Straight Alliances.
  • To celebrate the contributions of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities in our schools.
  • To model inclusion by valuing and respecting people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.

This conference will be appropriate for students from grades 7-12.

Students, teachers, social service providers, and community members are invited to propose workshops of 60 minutes in length. Workshops could be designed for students, for teachers, or for students and teachers together and may recognise the connections of oppressions, and address multiple human rights issues. We encourage joint presentations with student and adult collaboration that are interactive and dynamic. A modest honorarium is available for workshop presenters.

Inside and Out is a Halton based conference. The Halton District School Board, HOPE and community partners are interested in building connections with neighbouring school boards with similar communities, who may be initiating or developing services and resources for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgendered, intersexed, queer and questioning students and teachers.

Presented by HDSB, Halton Organization for Pride Education and Community Partners.

Halton Organization for Pride and Education Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario - Halton Local Burlington Community Foundation

HOPE sponsors a social committee that is dedicated to developing and running social events throughout the year leading up to the June Pride events. The committee started out with a focus on the Pride event (which is being planned throughout the year), but really took on a social networking aspect to it.

The S.N.A.P. committee is HOPE’s Social Networking And Pride committee. We are always looking for more volunteers and especially welcome to ideas as to what sort of social events you are looking for. Do you have an idea, a venue for us to use, a business that could help??? Let us know at info@haltonpride.org or call the office 905-632-4551.

Thank you all for your continued support. We can build a better community together!
